Al Zorah, Ajman

Al Zorah

Al Zorah is home to the Oberoi Hotel, camp sites, golf club, a marina, a battle park, water sports centre, kids’ water fun, boat rides, walk way and a million square foot mangrove forest and nature reserve, which is home to many species of birds and temporary home to many more during the migratory season. If bird-watching is your thing, this is the place for you.

Al Zorah Ajman

A 12km-long waterfront goes along one side of the mangrove forest whilst the sea lies on the other. The waterfront leads to Al Zorah Marina where you can dine, drink coffee, take a boat ride, enjoy water sports and your children can play in the splash play park, Funtastico.

Ajman Marina 1

Marina 1 has several cafes and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy the view and various places of entertainment for children, such as giant inflatables, bike cars and the Pygmy Zoo. There are also football fields to rent out and even a battle ground.

UAE Pygmy Zoo

The UAE Pygmy Zoo is more of a petting zoo with animals like goats, camel, horses, parrots, rabbits, etc. It opens from 3pm to 11pm weekdays and 2pm to midnight weekends. The entrance fee to the UAE Pygmy Zoo is AED15 for adults AED10 for children.

Marina 1 Abra Ride

Take an abra for AED 4 from Marina 1. Boat ride lasts 10-15 minutes. It can get busy at the weekend but it’s worth it for the views. Open from late afternoon.

Kayaking and Adventure at Al Zorah

On the opposite side of the road to Ajman Marina 1 is Quest for Adventure where you can take a kayak through the mangroves, go wake boarding, try your hand at stand up paddle boarding, get soaked on an inflatable ringo ride, pedal a pedalo, hire a bike, practise your archery skills or invite your friends for archery tag.

Al Zorah Beach

Al Zorah Beach is right at the end of the peninsula and looks out to a beautiful light blue sea in the daytime. Later it becomes darker as the sun gets lower before turning a lovely silvery blue as the sun starts to go down.

This beautiful Ajman beach was a favourite with campers but unfortunately camping is no longer allowed. It’s still a popular spot for fishing in the daytime and campfires and barbecues in the evening. Make sure your fire is not on the ground or you risk a hefty fine.

Caravana, Al Zorah

Caravana is now closed and a new residential development is underway.

Al Zorah Golf Course

And on the other side is an 18-hole golf course. What a great place to play, along the mangroves spotting flamingos, herons, egrets and Arabian bee-eaters while you wait your turn.

Al Zorah Golf Pavilion

Back on the main road, there are various dining options from Shakespeare’s and The Grove in the Zorah Pavilion to Spot food trucks and the relaxed Litchy Sushi Lounge with its palette seating and comfy cushions. All of these overlook the mangroves.

Al Zorah Walks and Birdwatching

There are also two walks in Al Zorah. The first is a paved walkway and starts at the Marina, goes round by Quest for Adventure and alongside the mangroves towards the golf club and is several kilometres long going almost the full length from the marina to the roundabout on Ittihad road. You can also start from the area next to the golf course half way down the road and walk back towards the marina. It’s more interesting than starting from the marina.

al qurm walk al zorah ajman

The other is Al Qurm Walk and just under 5km. It starts in Safiya Park car park and has a jogging track. Unfortunately, cycling is not allowed on the paved sides. It takes a circular route with the lagoon on one side and the mangrove forest on the other. Once you reach the denser mangrove forest, look out for birds of prey circling around. The track can also be used at night as it has solar lights.

There are normally a lot of cormorants, etc in this part of the lagoon. Recently, the flamingos and some of the cormorants seem to have moved round to the other side and you can see them from the Golf Pavilion or just past the car park. There are still lots of herons, egrets, curlews and other birds around though.

If you choose to buy one of the new villas at Al Zorah, you could enjoy all of these things every day!
