If you love old cars, Sharjah Classic Car Museum should be on your list. Also, if you have children learning about transport at school, this is a fabulous learning resource with a wide range of vehicles from the last century.

Opening its doors to the public in 2008, the museum has a remarkable collection of over 100 vintage classic cars dating back to the early 20th century. The exhibition includes private vehicles, police cars, taxis, early 4WDs, military trucks and even some bicycles.

Divided into four sections, each part of the museum highlights a different era in automotive history, from the early autos of 1915-1939 to the innovative designs between 1960 and 1987. Look out for the Mercedes Pullman Limousine, custom-made in 1969 for HH Sheikh Sultan.

Take a leisurely walk through the cars of different eras of the 20th century, admire the upholstery and the sleek or chunky designs, and travel back down memory lane. There are one or two cars you can get in, get the feel of the leather seats and try out the gearstick.

Details about each car, including year of production, country of manufacture and unique attributes make the experience all the more informative.

The museum is not only an exhibition of classic cars but an insight into the history of automobiles. But even more, it’s lots of fun for children. For anyone with an interest in the development of cars over time or just a love of transport, the Sharjah Classic Car Museum is a must-visit destination.

Sharjah Classic Car Museum Ticket Price: Adults AED 10, children 2-12 yrs AED 5, free for resident seniors (60+) with one carer, and POD with one carer.

Location: Dhaid/Airport Rd between interchange 4 and 5, just before Sharjah Airport, opposite the Discovery Centre.
